As us Halto wearers know, looking good starts with feeling good, and feeling confident is no different! Low self-esteem is a spectacularly common complaint among women, and we say ‘enough!’ You deserve to hold your head high and squeeze every drop of enjoyment from summer without the millstone of low self-confidence around your neck. So, to help you get started, here are our top tips to boost your confidence this summer…
- Eat well
Hang on! Hang on! Before you even think about heckling us off the stage so quickly, stick with us on this one.
We know you’ve heard it all before, but feeling good really does start from the inside. Learning what food boosts your energy, and what food induces a coma-like state means you can keep a rational head when it comes to what you put in your mouth (careful!), and can make the world of difference to your energy and mood.
We’re not saying you can’t go bonkers now and again, just be mindful about what you are fuelling yourself on over time.
- Get strong
We don’t mean becoming a tear-fearing, cold-hearted ice queen, or sporting a Popeye-esque physique. No. But find a workout routine that develops your overall strength because this makes you feel AMAZING!
Pole fitness, core strength exercises, kettle-bells, monkey bars … whatever floats your boat. Just do something and we promise you will start to radiate sunbeams this summer!
- Know yourself
What makes you feel pumped? What are those little moments in a day that top up your batteries and make you feel that little bit lighter? Conversely, what drains the living daylights out of you? What do you just need to think about before it makes you want to reach for the cheese?
By knowing yourself and what makes you truly happy, and weaving a little of this into every day, you can keep your happiness tanks topped up all summer long.
Stop. Breathe once (deeply and slowly, in and out), and a second time, and a third time. That’s it. Just stop, and breathe.
Forget faddy diets, uncomfortable clothes and copious amounts of makeup this summer. Slap on a bit of fake tan (something like Skinny Tan works a treat) and a decent sunscreen and you are ready to take on the world… or at least, the beach!
“Sit up straight!” is something your granny or mother probably barked at you now and again as a kid, but nothing says confidence like a woman who isn’t afraid to sit as tall and proud as she can. A properly fitting bra makes the world of difference too, so go and get fitted by a decent bra specialist. Be comfortable, but be upright. Great for your core, and this posture also subliminally tells your brain you are confident, so fake it ‘til you make it ladies!
Smiling = instant va va voom! Smile when you don’t feel like smiling, and definitely smile when you do feel like smiling. Smile with your whole face, especially your eyes. Go for it! Be unashamedly grinny at every opportunity. A smile will also infect everyone around you so it’s a public service really!
- All killa, no filla!
Wear what makes you feel amazing. Learn what brings out the best in you (colours and designs), and be brutal and brave with your wardrobe. Why wear something that is uncomfortable or you know doesn’t fit properly, when you could wear something that means you can just get on with being fabulous? Just like a Halto, and you know how great that makes you feel! Get this right, and as an added bonus, points 6 and 7 are much easier to accomplish too!
- Surround yourself with positive people
Linked to point 3, positive people fill up your energy tanks and radiate those sunbeams, so make sure you have lots of them around you! These are people who smile a lot, and are genuinely happy for your success and happiness. They are not hard to find. You know one when you meet one!
- Celebrate yourself; you rock!
You are amazing, and we’re not just saying that. Your body does incredible things every day just to stay alive, and by simply getting out of bed in the morning you brighten someone’s day, even if you don’t realize it. Go you!
